HOW TO BE A PROFESSIONAL

There are only two kinds of people in the career world:

PROFESSIONALS and NON-PROFESSIONALS.

First things first: WHO IS A PROFESSIONAL?

A professional is a term used to describe a person who is skilled in a particular profession.
There are different kinds of profession as well as professionals. What differentiates them are the qualities they possess.

QUALITIES OF A PROFESSIONAL
ü  Disciplined
ü  Passionate
ü  Goal oriented
ü  Sacrificial
ü  Hard working
ü  Social
ü  Determined

For every professional, there is an area of expertise.
In the academic world, being a professor is the highest ranking position one can attain. This supercedes the rank of a doctor or PhD holder. Hence, becoming one takes practical years of experience and self trainings coupled with research.
However, there is an extra work needed to attain such position at a very tender age.

TO BE A PROFESSIONAL , YOU MUST :
BE UNIQUE: doing things differently from the way other people would do it is a good way to start. Avoid replicating other people’s style. You can coin out your own brand and make others follow your style.
Ensure that in whatever line of field you aspire to advance in, yours is quite valueless and of a quality standard. Add new creative ideas to the existing ones (there’s no harm in trying).

BE INFORMED: information is key.
In today’s technology age, the internet is an effective source of vast information. It’s now easier to access this info via phones, and other electronic gadget. Rather than browse and chat online for hours, search for useful information like WHO WAS AMERICA’S 1ST PRESIDENT……. WHAT IS THE FULL MEANING OF MTN etc…… and read books that will educate you. Do not limit yourself to areas of your field only.

BE VERSATILE: it’s better to be a ‘jack-of-ALL-trade’ than to be a ‘jack-of-NO-trade’. Acquaint yourself with everything you can learn (especially new things). You never know which one will come in handy. Show interests in sports, watch movies that educate, read motivational novels, visit places and ask questions of things you know nothing about.
No knowledge is a waste!
There are several things on earth that are worth learning. Example: how to cook, drive, speak a new language, play a favorite game etc.

BE THE BEST: it’s not good enough to be GOOD; strive hard to be BETTER while working towards being the BEST. Many are satisfied with level at which they find themselves in today, just because they feel it’s okay to be just there. Take for instance, world stars in our generation today did ONE thing MANY times over before perfection.
To be the best, you must associate yourself with the BEST.
To be a professional, you must associate yourself with PROFESSIONALS.

BE A SOLUTION PROVIDER: look for challenges to solve. If there is none existing at the moment, Create one!
There are needs all around us -:  social, financial and material needs.
Look for the one that best fits your passion and seek for means to solve it.

QUESTION: ARE YOU A PROFESSIONAL? IF YES! WHAT KIND?
PRAYER: LORD MAKE ME A UNIQUE PROFESSOR WITH A DIFFERENCE
